New Shipment and Product Update

Posted on Jun 02, 2026

02 June 2026

Our new shipment has been loaded into the container and waiting to be carried onto a vessel sail to Dunedin. Here is the current schedule of our new shipment:
06 June 2026: Vessel departs from China.
19 June 2026: Vessel arrives in Auckland, awaiting transfer to a vessel to Dunedin.
24 June 2026: Vessel departs from Auckland.
28 June 2026: Vessel arrives at Port Chalmers. The container will then wait for customs clearance and final delivery to our warehouse.

There are no major changes to our filaments in this shipment(except the new colors), but we do want to share some work we've done on a different Matte PLA formula, that is widely used by other brands.

Our current Matte PLA filament formula requires slow blending/extruding/winding in the production, otherwise the filament will have a rough surface, that is visible on the surface of dark colored filament as very tiny white dots. Although it has zero issues on the final print, the rough surface does create a little extra friction in the filament tunnel/tube. As being the last client stick with this "ancient" formula, the manufacturer has a very high chance of "forgetting" to slow down the process just for us.

There is no such issue on the new Matte PLA formula, it can be blended/extruded/wound as fast as other PLA filaments and remain a much smoother surface. By using this formula, we could even cut our cost a few dollars to be more competitive.

We've been testing this formula since last year. The formula does use a lower grade of PLA and additives that we are not able to print as clean as our current formula. In the last two shipments, we included these new Matte PLA samples with slightly modified mixture, trying to produce the same result as our current Matte PLA. We made it almost same result on long extrusion on the printer, but we cannot get rid of the stringing on frequent jumps(only made it slightly better).

In this shipment, we included the final sample of the new formula(slightly modified again), will give it a last try. Since we print with our own filaments, we will not change the formula if we can't work out a satisfied print result, even it is cheaper.

Other than filaments, we've been drifted a little far away from 3D printing, that we had a very random product in this shipment. We will share the details of our Wondershop silicone wiper blades in another post.
